Summer season brings fans, field upgrades, and new promotional opportunities to Chemeketa’s Salem Campus
Chemeketa is proud to announce a new partnership with the Marion Berries baseball team, who will call Chemeketa’s Salem Campus home for their summer season.
Beginning June 23 and continuing through mid-August, the Berries will host their home games on Chemeketa’s baseball field, marking a vibrant new chapter for community engagement and campus visibility.
This collaboration is more than just a game-changer—it’s a campus-wide opportunity. With expected crowds ranging from 500 to 1,500 fans per game, Chemeketa anticipates a steady influx of visitors, many of whom may be stepping onto the campus for the first time. Parking will primarily be directed to the Orange and Red lots, with overflow in adjacent areas.
While game times are still being finalized—potentially ranging from 5 to 7 p.m.—one key infrastructure challenge is already being addressed. Thanks to a generous community donation, Chemeketa is working to upgrade the long-dormant stadium lighting, which is expected to enhance the experience for evening games as the summer progresses.
Significant improvements are also underway on the field itself, including drainage work, updated dugouts and bleachers, and enhanced safety features. Much of this renovation was already planned, but additional upgrades requested by the Marion Berries are being covered by the team as part of the rental agreement.
The partnership will also shine a spotlight on Chemeketa’s programs through cross-promotional efforts. Fans can expect to see visibility for Chemeketa Athletics along with Chemeketa Cellars, whose wines will be exclusively available at games. Marketing signage and promotional activities are also planned to enhance public awareness of the college's programs and offerings.
Chemeketa staff are encouraged to remain flexible, particularly on game days, as increased traffic and activity around the south end of campus may impact parking and event planning. Additional communication and coordination will be provided as needed.
In the meantime, get ready for a summer of baseball, community, and Chemeketa pride.
